Disciple primarily refers to a dedicated follower of Jesus. A disciple is one who disciplines himself in the teachings and practices of another. Following Jesus as a disciple is a process of learning to become more and more like Jesus Himself. As we look at the gospels, we see that spiritual disciplines were an integral part of Jesus’ life. So to be a disciple one needs to practice fasting, prayer, service and solitude.
